Join Parent Support Group

The small school for making an impact

International School Groningen welcomes families from all over the world, and from all walks of life. The school is a safe and respectful environment for intercultural exchange.

What does the Parent Support Group do?

The Parent Support Group formally represents all parents and guardians of students. Its main goal is to support teachers and students at ISG. Joining the Parent Support Group is a great opportunity to meet new people and settle in quickly in the Netherlands.

  • Advocate the parents’ perspective - If an issue is raised, the group engages with the management and staff to find a solution, recognising that parents' perspectives can offer valuable insights for the staff. Conversely, understanding the staff's heavy workload helps parents appreciate the challenges they face, fostering mutual understanding and clearing up any misconceptions.
  • Organising events - The Parent Support Group organises regular events at the beginning of each school year and around the holidays. These events foster connections between students, parents and teachers in a relaxed setting. There are also educational events to raise awareness to social and health issues students might face, inviting experts to share information. The group is also active in planning occasional Teacher Appreciation events, and gifting treats and snacks to students during the exam period.

The Parent Support Group welcomes volunteers to share their ideas and act as a valuable link between teachers, students, leadership and other parents.
