  • A copy of the child’s passport.

A step-by-step guide to applying to ISG

Processing

Is there a deadline for applications?

For the Middle Years Programme, we accept applications throughout the school year. However, we do have a limit to the number of students we can admit per class (22), so the earlier the application is completed the greater the chance that the child will be offered a place.

For the Diploma Programme, applications should be completed by the end of May, in order to join the following school year in August-September. Students must be living in the Netherlands to start. We cannot accept students to the programme after it has started.

Is the application fee refunded if a place is not offered to my child?

The application fee is a non-refundable fee that enables us to cover the administrative costs of the application process. It will not be deducted from the school fees should a place be offered. It will also not be refunded if you decide to withdraw your child from the application process or from the school after they have started.

Are there admission exams?

Entry tests are required for admission to the Diploma Programme (DP), while placement tests are conducted for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to ensure appropriate student placement.

What are the school fees?

The International School Groningen is able to offer high quality international education at a reasonable cost to families due to funding from the Dutch Ministry of Education.

The fees for parents for the school year 2024/25 are €7800, payable over ten months.

The fee includes all schoolbooks, but does not include school trips, social events, IB (DP2) Diploma Exam or MYP5 Record of Achievement fees. In addition, all students in MYP1-4 are expected to have a laptop. These can be ordered through the school at admission or provided by parents.

Please note for school year 2025/26 all students will be expected to be in possession of a laptop.

For further details please see here.

Can the school help with visa applications?

International School Groningen is not able to apply for a visa on behalf of any student. The IND (Dutch Immigration Department) will not issue a visa to a minor unless they are moving to the Netherlands with a parent/legal guardian who already has a work contract in place.
