Experience the best of both worlds: Haren’s charm and Groningen’s vibrancy

International School Groningen resides in the green and welcoming borough of Haren–at one time an independent municipality, and today a part of the city of Groningen. The tranquil environment, speckled with historic monuments, makes for an inspiring backdrop for education and cultivating friendships.

ISG shares some of its facilities with the neighbouring Dutch secondary school, Maartenscollege, awarding students at both schools the free and full use of the comforts on campus.

In 2029 we will expand our facilities to take a place in the new international campus planned for this school. This will involve a new build and complete renovation of the current buildings and surrounding grounds. Stay tuned for further updates.

Connections between students, parents and teachers in a relaxed setting

Discover Haren, the historic villa village in the Dutch countryside

In the early 20th Century Haren became known for its spacious and architectural villas, making the then-independent town a sought-after residential location in the north of the Netherlands. Today, many of those marvellous villas and their uniquely Dutch characteristics are protected monuments. The grounds of the International School Groningen are home to one such monument, Villa Esserberg, which is one of the most recognisable tokens of Haren, and still accommodates activities of the school.

Easy access to our campus

International School Groningen is only a 10-minute drive from the Groningen Central Station and the historic city centre. Buses 50, 51 run regularly between the school and the city centre.

Most students prefer commuting by bicycle, with many designated bicycle lanes completely separated from car traffic along the way. The school provides a supervised bike park on site.
